Sedirli Ev, Alaçatı
We stayed at this lovely little B&B while we were in Alaçatı. It's owned and operated by the lovely Zeynep Erdem. I'm sorry to say that I didn't take more pictures while I was there, but there are plenty on her website. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a B&B in the area. The hospitality is wonderful, the atmosphere wonderfully inviting, and the breakfasts are fantastic.*
*We ordered the eggs menemen style (scrambled with tomatoes and peppers) every morning. I'm usually so particular about how I like my eggs cooked that I rarely order eggs scrambled when I'm out, but I'm telling you - these were fantastic. I need to find some peppers like those when I am (eventually) home.

Food! Part 1 of...well, we'll see.
After trying to avoid it, I decided that several posts dedicated to different foods we've had while here in Turkey were absolutely necessary. And - why not? You all know I'm admittedly a food snob enthusiast. I think that the foods you eat in a place are as much a part of the experience at sight-seeing or shopping. (Half of my sight-seeing really is just my looking for a nice little cafe...)
This is a little corner cafe my Dad and I found in Alaçatı on the outskirts of town one day. I of course had spent the last half hour* searching for just-the-right-place (it was our next to last day there, and I was trying to make the most of it), only to reach the edge of town with the bazaar in front of us.** It was hot, I felt dehydrated, I was tired, my feet hurt, I was being melodramatic, I was even starting to whimper a bit (pathetic, I know). Luckily,my dad we were fortunate enough to find this place.
What we ate is called gözleme. It's kind of like a Turkish take on quesadillas, and can be filled with various things. Ours had beyaz peynir (literally, white cheese - but also known as feta) with green onions and parsley. I personally prefer when they are filled with spinach, but it hit the spot, nonetheless, and we were able to continue back to the B&B through the bazaar afterwards.
*After dragging my Dad from boutique to boutique, looking at linens (and what-not) for however long...

That Perfect Shade of Red
Why does it feel like fall already?? Where did my summer go? No
matter - fall is my favorite season. I love the way the air feels so
crisp and fresh; not fresh in a Springtime sense, more as a cleaner,
less humid contrast to the heat of Summer that really just leaves you
feeling greasy all the time.
Luckily, I have had the advantage to spend my last few weeks of Summer in Turkey. I came with my family for a cousin's wedding, and we stayed on for a couple weeks to see more of our friends and family. We also (of course) took advantage of our proximity to the Aegean coast and visited some ofmy our favorite beaches. Since I've been reproachfully lax in my postings since I left the US,
I'll try to make up for it over the next several days by sharing some of
what we were able to see, eat, and enjoy.
In the interim, I've not forgotten that it's Fashion Week in New York. Wish I could be there(!), but I'm not bratty enough to complain that I'm only in Istanbul at the moment. Is anybody else loving this darker shade of red for fall as much as I am? I'm not even going to tell you how much time I spent* trying on different shades/types/brands of lipstick a couple of weeks back to find this EXACT shade, only to settle for one that's not matte like this. (Matte is a good thing.) Then(!), I found this image on Pinterest, but the link has gone bad so I can't figure out the color...any ideas?

Skinny Ties For Sale!
Even though Julia has instructed me to stop apologizing, I must. Things have been terribly busy since I've been back in Houston.
